After finishing her Master's degree at MCP-Hahnemann University, she worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents ages 4 to 17 with behavioral and emotional disturbances. Nancy then worked in an adult inpatient facility with individuals with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and chemical addiction as well as those with thought disorders. She has worked directly with people of all ages with the presenting issues above as well as trauma, grief and loss, transition, anxiety and identity issues. Nancy believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and that everyone has the strength to improve his or her relationship with the world given the opportunity. In her practice she uses verbal therapy in conjunction with artistic communication and expression to aid her clients in self-empowerment, awareness and to foster hope. Art therapy allows for an open dialogue between client, self and therapist in a non-threatening way. It can be effective in learning new coping skills, communication skills and identifying areas of conflict and strength.
Currently, Nancy has a private practice in Oaklyn, New Jersey where
she works with adolescents and adults using both traditional and art
psychotherapy. She is registered and board certified by the American
Art Therapy Association and holds the Licensed Professional Counselor
certification in the state of New Jersey. Nancy is the former president of the Delaware Valley Art Therapy Association. In addition to her clinical
practice, she facilitates workshops at regional conferences, teaches graduate classes at a local university, and supervises art therapy students
and new professionals.
